Sounds Great, so What's the Catch Here?
If your site runs our ad space, we list your site on our gateways. Simple as that. There's no long-term commitment, no cost and no obligation. We think when you see new readers or players every day, you'll agree that it's a pretty good deal.
For the traffic exchange, all you need to do is send visits from your site to a URL provided by the network. The network will return traffic to your site automatically, up to nine visits for every ten you send!
How Many New Readers are we Talking About?
Here is one of our success stories:
LadyStar has two comics listed on our gateway. In 2009, the LadyStar webcomics got a combined 7907 visits from Palace in the Sky, generating averages of over six pageviews per visit and over 21 visits a day over 12 months.
In 2009, Palace in the Sky remained LadyStar's #2 source of referral traffic out of some 1700 total sources.
We don't guarantee any particular traffic level for any of our member sites. You won't get huge increases from our gateways, but you will get steady, reliable traffic.
What if my Site is New?
We strive to promote all of our member sites equally. Palace in the Sky's gateways are not top sites lists, and we don't rank comics by pageviews or votes. In fact, our sites rotate on every page load, so every member site has a chance to be at the top of the list hundreds of times a day.
The Valkyrie Network does give larger sites proportionally more return traffic, but the system retains some of the overall inventory to share with all of our members. Palace in the Sky is here to promote all of our members, because when one of us does well, we all do well.
Are there Content Restrictions?
Our content policy is simple. We can list up to R-rated material that is consistent with our current membership's content.
We prefer that sites have at least 1000 pageviews a day. We have accepted sites with lower traffic levels, but we ask that our smaller sites be working towards increasing their audience, because that benefits all of our sites.
We also ask that your site update on a schedule and not become a zombie, unless, of course, it's about zombies.
Can Palace in the Sky Help My Other Sites?
We give every site listing an opportunity to include links to their merchandise shop, print version, example page, synopsis, RSS feed and News. Members are allowed to list multiple sites, within reason.
Conventions, Print, Television, Message Board and Webcomic News
Palace in the Sky is conducting print promotional campaigns at Comic, Anime, Game and Sci-Fi Conventions worldwide. We are also preparing to launch print and television campaigns for our comics and possibly begin video game advertising using services like MochiAds.
We operate an active message board for our artists and authors where our members can exchange ideas and critiques. We also provide a community blog where our member sites can promote their newest projects.
What If I Only Have a Blog? Can My Site Be a Member?
Blogs on geek culture, science fiction, anime, gaming, speculative fiction, computer hardware or software, gadgets, movies, manga, comic books, fan fiction, collectibles, horror, etc. are welcome, provided they meet the guidelines and requirements for our other sites.
Who Runs Palace in the Sky Publishing? Where Did the Name Come From?
Palace in the Sky Publishing is owned by Heavy Cat Multimedia Ltd., publisher of the LadyStar Webcomic and Web Fiction series. The name first appeared in the LadyStar novel of the same name. The Palace in the Sky is a magical ship that carries Jessica Hoshi and her friends from their home in Tree Shores to the enchanted realm of Aventar.
